Recommended Cohort Size

Why 4 to 6 participants per group?

The Rangers Program is designed for deep practice, realistic crisis-team behavior, strong individual coaching, psychological safety, and operational feasibility in a high-load support organization.

4 to 6 This range keeps every participant active while preserving enough diversity for peer learning, simulations, and feedback.
Design Intent

What the cohort size needs to protect

  • Deep practice, not just content consumption.
  • A realistic crisis-team feel.
  • Strong individual coaching and observable growth.
  • High psychological safety for honest reflection.
  • A schedule that remains realistic for a high-load support organization.

2 to 3 participants

  • Maximum airtime per person and very high trust.
  • Too little diversity, thinner simulations, and more cohorts needed.

More than 6 participants

  • More people reached per run and more perspectives in discussion.
  • Less airtime per person, easier to hide, and more crowded simulations.
  • Better suited for awareness sessions, webinars, or briefings than intensive practice.
Rationale

Why 4 to 6 works best for Rangers

Decision Rule

How to choose the format

If the goal is awareness only -> Larger groups or broadcast sessions are fine.
If the goal is real behavior change under pressure -> Default to 4 to 6 participants per cohort.
